Patience paid off for the top-seeded Cranford 11U Gold when they hosted the fourth-seeded Ridge Black in the semifinal round of the New Providence Green League playoffs at Memorial Field in Cranford on July 26. After trailing 4-0 entering the bottom of the second inning, the Cranford Gold slowly began to get their offensive engines in gear and with the score knotted, 6-6, revved up big time with seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull away with a 13-8 victory.
Cranford Gold starter Theo Arato was on the mound for 1.2 innings and allowed four runs on three hits and four walks, while striking out three batters. Max Semler relieved and pitched 3.1 innings, allowing four runs on six hits, while walking none and striking out two.
