WESTFIELD — The Martin Wallberg American Legion Post No. 3 will host this year’s Veterans Day ceremony on Saturday, November 11, at 11 a.m., at Westfield’s monument to veterans of World War I, located at the North Avenue and East Broad Street Plaza. The date commemorates the signing of the armistice that ended hostilities at the conclusion of World War I. All are invited to attend this service of celebration and remembrances.
Post members will once again welcome Kerry Stubbs, who will perform his rousing rendition of “God Bless America.” Bells will be rung by Town Bell Master Jack Panosh. Words and prayers will be offered, and “Taps” will be played from the trumpet of Ted Schlosberg, Ed.D.
This year is especially meaningful for American Legion Post No. 3, as it has been approved by the Westfield Town Council to move forward with plans to build a 22unit housing facility for homeless and at-risk veterans.
In case of rain, the Veterans Day ceremony will take place at Martin Wallberg Post No. 3, located at 1003 North Avenue. Following the ceremony, all are invited to a light luncheon at the Post Canteen.
