CLARK — After suffering a terrible motor vehicle accident back in July, board member Lorraine J.Aklonis was able to return to her seat on the board of education after going through rehabilitation and physical therapy.
“I thank you all for your good wishes, your texts, and your phone calls,” she said during Monday night’s meeting. “It’s very good to be back and to participate once again and keep our school district going.”
During his Superintendent Report, Ed Grande thanked RMB Landscaping for its work on the Valley Road courtyard that students and faculty have been using. Garwood board member Christine Guerriero also addressed the public ontheALJAlumniAssociation’scurrent work on the number of scholarships for this year’s seniors. Nominations currently are being accepted for the 2024 alumni class until January 31, 2024.
Board member Steven Donkersloot also commended the committee, superintendent and ALJ principal for the hall of fame dinner held two weeks ago.
“It was rich in atmosphere; I felt like it was well attended,” he said. “It’s something that is needed, and for the first year of it, I just want to commend. I know the work that was put into it.”
