WESTFIELD—TheWestfieldHealth Department has announced a new 24week program entitled Project Healthy Bones,forolderadultswhoeitherhaveor are at risk for osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis is a disease that thins and weakens bones, making them more likely to break. Project Healthy Bones exercises target the body’s larger muscle groups to improve strength, balance and flexibility. The interactive educational portion addresses health topics, such as exercise, osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment,medications,nutrition,fallprevention, safe movement and lifestyle factors related to osteoporosis.
Sponsored by the Westfield Regional Health Department, this free program beganDecember4andistakingplaceon Mondays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the WestfieldCommunityCenter,locatedat 558 West Broad Street, Westfield.
