GARWOOD — During Tuesday night's re-organization meeting, Councilwoman Karina Boto and Councilman Sean Foley were sworn in as members of the Garwood Borough Council. Councilman Vincent Kearney, along with being sworn in, also was elected to serve as the new council president with a majority of yes votes and one no.
GARWOOD — During Tuesday night’s re-organization meeting, Councilwoman Karina Boto and Councilman Sean Foley were sworn in as members of the Garwood Borough Council. Councilman Vincent Kearney, along with being sworn in, also was elected to serve as the new council president with a majority of yes votes and one no.
Councilwoman Boto, now the Public Works Committee chair, thanked voters, promising the continuation of the Department of Public Works’ efforts to keep Garwood looking its best. “I assure you that any concerns with our streets or municipal building are properly addressed,” she said. Ms. Boto also mentioned that she has already started to work on a volunteer adopta- drain program.
The new chair of the Finance and Personnel Committee, Councilman Foley, also thanked voters, assuring them he will be committed to cracking a streamlined budget despite inflation being on the rise.
“Your belief in me and my vision for Garwood is an honor,” said Mr. Foley, adding that he plans to approach his new duties ‘with integrity and the utmost dedication.”
Councilman Kearney expressed his pleasure at returning to the council and serving as the new chair of the Police and Public Safety Committee.
“We have some big things to discuss this year and some big decisions to make for 2024-2025,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to having those discussions openly and honestly with the public.”
Councilwoman Clarissa Nolde will continue to be chair of the Community Engagement Committee. Councilman Marc Lazarow will now chair the Fire and OEM Committee, and Councilwoman Kimberly Salmon will now serve as chair of the Community Development Committee.
