Dr. Frank Krause, Ret. Orthodontist;
Active With Jaycees, YMCA, CDC
Dr. Frank Walter Krause, 90, of Cranford, N.J., died at home on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
He was born in Rahway on June 3, 1933, to Jean Ann Krause and Frank Walter Krause.
He is a Rahway High School graduate of 1951. After college he attended the University of Maryland Dental School, graduating with Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honors. Following that he completed a postdoctoral program and masters from Temple University in 1963.
During college at the University of Virginia, he graduated Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He joined the R.O.T.C. and spent two years as an army officer in Virginia after dental school.
During his 50 years of orthodontic practice in Cranford he achieved numerous professional awards and patented an orthodontic appliance.
After he retired in 2013, he found great joy in bumping into thousands of patients around town and going to the local movies. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, whom he met in Philadelphia and married in 1964. He also is survived by his children, Frank, Lauren, Carey and Kurt. He was involved in the community as a leader, most notably in the Cranford Jaycees, the Westfield Area YMCA and the Cranford Dramatic Club. Friends and relatives are invited to visit today, Thursday, January 11, 2024, between 4 and 8 p.m., at Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue West, Cranford, N.J. 07016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, January 12, 2024, at 10 a.m., at St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Cranford. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
