Pasquale ‘Pat’ Bavos, 93, Known For Love of Family, Loyalty to Friends
Pasquale “Pat” Mercury Bavos, 93, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Brandywine Living at Mountain Ridge in Watchung, New Jersey. He was born in the Westfield family home on November 26, 1930 to parents Frank and Mary Frances (Mondano) Bavos.
“Pat, an extremely talented artist and a hard driving guard on the championship football team, has left Westfield High something to remember him by — the class seal of 1948 which he designed.” — Weather Vane, 1948 yearbook.
Pat learned the plumbing trade until he was drafted in 1951 to serve in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He continued to learn the trade while serving and managed their plumbing and heating plant. Honorably discharged in 1953, Pat became a self-employed master plumber of Westfield.
Married in 1956, Pat and his wife, Marion, went on to have six daughters, something he was very proud of. With awe and respect for nature, Pat’s passion for gardening was bestowed to his daughters as well as an appreciation of art and antiques. He was a member of The American Legion, Martin Wallberg Post No. 3, UNICO National, and active in team sports in bowling and softball. Always there to defend the underdog, Pat will be remembered for his loyalty to his friends, love of family, and helping anyone in need. Predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Marion Bavos; his sister, Rosina Rubinetti, and brother, Frank, Jr., he is survived by his six daughters, Patrice, Elyce and her husband, Ashley, Stephanie and her husband, Sherwin, Stacey, Lesley and her husband, Jesse, and Kimberly and her husband, Steve; his six grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Maya, Natalie, Christian and Stephen; and beloved nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield, on Saturday, January 20, from 1 to 3:30 p.m., with a service beginning at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the USO.
