WESTFIELD — The Christopher Academy, the oldest continually- running Montessori school in New Jersey, currently is celebrating its 60th year of service and commitment to the community with many events.
One of the first celebrations occurred on January 20 with a brunch at Shackamaxon Country Club in Scotch Plains. A full house of former and present staff, faculty and parents enjoyed visiting with each other while reminiscing about the school’s history and its present programs.
Christopher Academy serves the children of Westfield and surrounding areas age 2½ through first grade. It is a torch bearer in Montessori education and is fully accredited by the American Montessori Society.
The school was recognized with celebratory documents from Senator Cory Booker, Representative Thomas H. Kean, Jr. and Westfield Mayor Shelley Brindle, among others.
