WESTFIELD — Six candidates, including this year’s Board President Sonal Patel and incumbent board member Leila Morrelli, will be vying for three, three-year terms on the Westfield Board of Education inApril.
Sahar Aziz, the board’s former vice president, will not be seeking reelection.
Newcomers Lindsay Bezalel, Mark Shore, Julie Steinberg and Brad Schaeffer also have filed the requisite petitions to appear on this year’s ballot.
All six candidates are running independently.
District BusinessAdministrator and Board Secretary Patricia Ramos will draw names for ballot positions at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6.
The Westfield Parent Teacher Council will host a virtual candidates’ forum on Monday, March 18, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. According to the district’s webpage, more information on the forum is expected to be released soon. Voters will have until Tuesday, March 26, to register to vote in this year’s election, which will be held from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16.
