SUMMIT — The Summit Area Old Guard will meet next on Tuesday, March 5. Dr. Greg Kaczorowski, an esteemed researcher in Ion channels, will be the guest speaker.
During a nearly 30year career at Merck, Dr. Kaczorowski established and directed its Ion Channels Department. Ion channels are a large family of membrane proteins that are present in all cells of the body. Because of their fundamental importance in systems biology, Dr. Kaczorowski will discuss how ion channels can be modulated for therapeutic benefit or be targeted to kill an organism.
Founded in 1930, the Summit Area Old Guard meets most Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at the New Providence Presbyterian Church, located at 1307 Springfield Avenue, New Providence. It is a social, recreational and educational fellowship of retired men. Dues are minimal. The group provides speakers and numerous activities through the volunteer efforts of its members. Old Guard programs are free to the public and all are welcome. Past speakers and much more can be viewed at summitoldguard.org.
