SCOTCH PLAINS — The Scotch Plains Public Library will present a hybrid in-person/online workshop entitled “Connecting Beyond Distance: Navigating Social Anxiety in a Post-Covid World.”
Presented by staff of Resolve Community Counseling Center, this event will take place on Thursday, April 4, from 7 to 8 p.m.
The Covid-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted social dynamics, leading to increased social isolation and heightened social anxiety for many individuals. Social isolation, resulting from lockdowns, social-distancing measures, and remote work or education, has contributed to a sense of loneliness and disconnection. Prolonged periods of reduced face-to-face interactions have been linked to negative effects on mental health, including increased stress, depression and feelings of isolation. This workshop aims to provide a supportive and informative space for individuals dealing with social anxiety and the effects of social isolation, particularly exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic. The session will blend practical strategies, interactive discussions and a focus on building connections in a postpandemic world. Dominique Outlaw-Howell, PsyD, will present via Zoom, with Jayda S. Yizar, M.A., facilitating the workshop in person at the library.
