Louis Ripperger, 87, of Westfield, Retired Executive and Avid Golfer
Louis Ripperger, a longtime resident of Westfield, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Birchwood Nursing Home in Cranford. He was 87 years old.
Louis was born in Saint Peter, Indiana, on January 20, 1937 to Hilda and William Ripperger and grew up in Richmond, Indiana. He lived in Indianapolis and Wheaton, Illinois, before moving to Westfield in 1974. After retiring in 1998, he resided in Naples, Florida, and Springfield, New Jersey.
Louis was a graduate of Marion College in Indianapolis and was employed as Senior Vice President Head of Operations with Hilliard Farber & Co. on Wall Street before retiring.
He was a parishioner of St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield and was a longtime member of Echo Lake Country Club and a member of Windstar Country Club in Naples, Fla.
Louis will be remembered for telling funny, if not inappropriate, jokes to anyone who would listen and had no problem repeating those same jokes again and again. He was an avid golfer and played in numerous tournaments at Echo Lake Country Club, including a few Father Son and Father-Daughter tournaments. He sure loved to win and we all knew it. He was also responsible for helping dozens of Westfield graduates start their careers on Wall Street. Surviving are his sons, John and Tom (and his wife, Beth); his daughters, Ellen Bernholz (and her husband, Ryan) and Susan Davitz; eleven grandchildren; and his brothers, Edward and Robert. He is predeceased by his siblings Helen, William, Harold, Carroll and Mary.
A private memorial will be held later this spring.
