Monday, April 15, Autumn Robinson, 21, of East Orange was arrested and charged with shoplifting $303.19 worth of merchandise from the Target store located at 45 Central Avenue. Robinson was transported to Clark Police Department Headquarters, processed accordingly and released pending a court date.

Thursday, April 18, police took a report of a shoplifting incident that occurred at the Target store located at 45 Central Avenue. The suspects were seen concealing $913.91 worth of merchandise in a shopping cart and in unpaid suitcases. The suspects passed all points of sale and fled.

Saturday, April 20, Michael Maurice, 45, of Union was arrested for an outstanding ATS warrant out of Cranbury Township. Maurice was subsequently released pending a court date.
Saturday, April 20, Kenneth Westley, 21, of Roselle was arrested and charged with shoplifting merchandise valued at $167.73. Westley was transported to Clark Police Department Headquarters, processed accordingly and transported to the Union County jail.
Sunday, April 21, police took a report of a shoplifting incident that occurred at the Target store located at 45 Central Avenue. The female suspect was seen passing all points of sale with a cart full of unpaid merchandise. When approached, the suspect abandoned the shopping cart and fled. This incident is under investigation. SCOTCH PLAINS Wednesday, April 10, a resident of Morse Avenue reported that his motor vehicle was damaged through criminal mischief. He observed a black SUV drive by his vehicle and someone throw an egg at his car. The egg cracked his window, causing $400 in damage.
Wednesday, April 10, a resident of Sycamore Avenue fell victim to an online scam. The victim was purchasing a motor vehicle from someone she thought she knew through Facebook Marketplace. The sum of $400 was sent as a down payment. It was later found out through a friend that the account was hacked. The matter is under investigation.
Wednesday, April 10, a resident of Greenside Place reported a theft from the residence. During an openhouse event, someone removed tax documents from a filing cabinet. This matter is under investigation.
Wednesday, April 10, a resident of Warren Street reported fraud. She clicked on a Facebook ad, which then locked her computer. The victim called the number provided and was instructed to purchase $2,000 in gift cards to remove the hold. This matter is under investigation.
WESTFIELD
Monday, April 15, a resident of the 300 block of Clark Street reported that an unknown suspect(s) accessed their computer, indicating that they needed to contact technical support. Said suspect(s) then deceived the victim into removing funds from the resident’s account. The victim then used these funds to purchase prepaid and gift cards at the suspect(s)’ direction. The suspect(s) then accessed the cards purchased and emptied them. Currently, the victim has suffered a monetary loss. The resident stated that they are unaware who accessed their computer or how they created the “alert” which led them to contact the suspect(s).
Monday, April 15, a victim, of the 700 block of Coleman Place, reported that their identity was stolen and that the suspect(s) filed a fraudulent tax return with the Internal Revenue Service. The victim is unaware of what exact personal information was used to file the tax return, nor how the information was obtained. The victim has suffered no monetary loss at this time.
Monday, April 15, Westfield Police officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on the 300 block of South Avenue West and found the driver to have an outstanding traffic warrant out of Union Township Municipal Court, in the amount of $750. The driver, Keshon Carson, 25, of South Plainfield, was released on scene on his own recognizance after being processed roadside.
Thursday, April 18, a contractor working in the area of the 1100 block of Tice Place reported that two unknown males entered a residential job site at approximately 12 p.m. and removed tools and equipment from the site. The contractor reported a loss of approximately $5,979 worth of tools and equipment as a result of the incident.
Thursday, April 18, a resident of the 800 block of Forest Avenue reported being the victim of identity theft; specifically, that an unknown suspect(s) established two lines of credit with different financial institutions in their name. The resident stated that they are unaware who opened the accounts without their authorization or what exact information was used to open the accounts. The victim reports no financial loss at this time.
Thursday, April 18, subsequent to a motor vehicle stop at Central Avenue and Quimby Street, Aaliyah Bouza, 23, of Newark was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction. Bouza was released on recognizance at the scene and given a future court date to address the matter.
Thursday, April 18, after a 9-1-1 call was received regarding an erratic driver who may be in distress, a police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop at Central Avenue and Quimby Street when he located the vehicle in question. The subsequent investigation of the motor vehicle stop led to the driver, John Taylor, 60, of Westfield, being arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). The driver was placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle and transported to Westfield Police Headquarters, where he was processed and released on summonses to a sober adult with a future court date.
Thursday, April 18, Jose Gomez, 30, of Roselle was placed under arrest for 2C:39-5B(1), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, pursuant to a police investigation in the area of the 1100 block of Tice Place. Gomez was processed and transported to the Union County jail to await his mandatory court date.
Thursday, April 18, Westfield Police Department personnel received an alert for a silver Nissan sedan bearing a stolen license plate, which was later determined to be a stolen motor vehicle bearing a stolen fictitious license plate. After a motor vehicle pursuit with officers, Jason Burkett, 44, of Cockeysville, Md., was placed under arrest at Central Avenue and Sycamore Street on charges of 2C:29-2B Resisting Arrest/ Eluding, 2C:12-1B(6) Aggravated Assault on Officer, 2C:29-1A Obstructing Administration of The Law, 2C:20-7A Receiving Stolen Property, and 2C:17-3A(1) Criminal Mischief. He was then processed and transported to the Union County jail pending a mandatory court date.
