EAST ORANGE — Brittany Claybrooks, a former East Orange councilwoman and North Jersey political director of Andy Kim’s U.S. Senate campaign announced her run for the Democratic primary for Congress in New Jersey’s 10th Congressional District.
‘It’s time for fresh, young leadership dedicated to making public service work for the people, not just those in power,’ said Ms. Claybrooks. ‘I’m running because our community needs someone who will work every day to help them afford to buy a home, put food on their table, and commute to work. I’ve delivered for my community before, and I will do it again in Congress.’
Because of the passing of Congressman Donal Payne, Jr., a special primary election will be held on Tuesday, July 16 with a special general election on Tuesday, September 18 to fill the seat. The filing deadline to run is Friday, May 10. The 10th Congressional district includes Cranford and Garwood.
