SUMMIT AREA — Gary Fisch, founder and CEO of Gary’s Wine & Marketplace, will be the guest speaker for the Tuesday, May 14 meeting of the Summit Area Old Guard.
In 1987, Mr. Fisch opened a small wine shop in Madison, N.J. Today, Gary’s Wine & Marketplace has become an industry-leading independent retailer selling wine, beer, spirits, gourmet foods and giftware at four locations in northern New Jersey.
Mr. Fisch will share his founding story and discuss some innovations he has pioneered in retailing over the past 35 years. In 2019, he opened a West Coast location in Napa Valley.
He supports ATaste of Morristown, an annual event in Morristown, with all proceeds going to the Rotary Club of Morristown.
Founded in 1930, the Summit Area Old Guard meets most Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at the New Providence Presbyterian Church, located at 1307 Springfield Avenue, New Providence. The Old Guard is a social, recreational and educational fellowship of retired men. Dues are minimal. The group provides speakers and multiple activities through the volunteer efforts of its members. Programs are free and all are welcome. The organization’s motto is “Come for the Programs. Stay for the Friends.”
