WESTFIELD — Fairview Cemetery and Arboretum will debut its Notable Residents Walking Tour on Sunday, June 2, at 2 p.m., highlighting the history and character of those who helped shape the community over the years. Meg Wastie, who grew up in Westfield and has a love of history, will lead the walking tour. She has a background in teaching and a degree in museum professions and currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Historical Society of Somerset Hills. Ms. Wastie will provide commentary on and anecdotal stories about a variety of Westfield residents laid to rest at Fairview. The walking tour is estimated to take 90 minutes.
Those interested are asked to register online at friendsoffairview1.org beginning today, Thursday, May 23. Fairview Cemetery is located at 1100 East Broad Street, Westfield. Participants should enter through the front gates 15 minutes prior to the start of the event. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Walking shoes are recommended. In the event of rain, the tour will not take place and participants will be notified by email. The event is free to the public; however, donations may be made through the website.
