SUMMIT AREA — Chris Gaffney, director of championships for the Metropolitan Golf Association (MGA), will speak to the Summit Area Old Guard on Tuesday, May 28. Mr. Gaffney will highlight the historic MGA Championship program, the golf courses, accomplished alumni and volunteer opportunities throughout New Jersey, and provide some insight into the rules of golf.
Founded in 1930, the Summit Area Old Guard meets most Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at the New Providence Presbyterian Church, located at 1307 Springfield Avenue, New Providence. It is a social, recreational and educational fellowship of retired men. Dues are minimal. The group provides speakers and multiple activities through the volunteer efforts of its members. Its motto is “Come for the Programs. Stay for the Friends.” Old Guard programs are free to the public and all are welcome. Past speakers and much more can be viewed at summitoldguard.org.
