Friday, May 17, police took a report of fraud from a resident. This incident is under investigation.
Friday, May 17, Andres Milla, 24, of Newark was arrested and charged with shoplifting from the Target store, located at 45 Central Avenue. Milla was transported to Clark Police Department Headquarters, processed accordingly and subsequently released pending a court date.

Saturday, May 18, Leidly Deleon, 45, of Linden was arrested and charged with shoplifting merchandise, valued at $264.33, from the Target store, located at 45 Central Avenue. Deleon was transported to Clark Police Department Headquarters, processed accordingly and released pending a court date.
Monday, May 20, Eddie Rosario, 38, of Bronx, N.Y., was arrested and charged with shoplifting from the Target store, located at 45 Central Avenue. Rosario was transported to Clark Police Department Headquarters, processed accordingly and released pending a court date.

Friday, May 17, police observed a motor vehicle cross the double yellow line on Lincoln Avenue East. The vehicle was stopped, and after a brief investigation the driver, Braulio Hernandez Curi, 42, of Elizabeth, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Careless Driving. He was released on a summons pending a municipal court hearing.
Tuesday, May 21, police stopped a motor vehicle on North Avenue at the Garden State Parkway for careless driving. After a brief investigation the driver, Thomas Dobbs, 61, of Newark, was arrested on charges of Possession of Heroin, Possession of Paraphernalia and Careless Driving. The passenger, James McNeil, 61, of Newark, was arrested on an open warrant originating in East Orange. McNeil was released pending a municipal court date in East Orange and Dobbs was released on a summons pending a Superior Court hearing.
Wednesday, May 22, police responded to a home on Rutgers Road on a report of a blocked driveway. Upon arrival, an officer observed a motor vehicle that was operated by Jemson Thelusma, 36, of Irvington blocking a resident’s driveway. After a brief investigation, Thelusma was arrested and charged with DWI and Possession of an Open Container in a Vehicle. Thelusma was released on a summons pending a municipal court hearing.
WESTFIELD
Sunday, May 19, a resident of N. Florence Avenue reported being the victim of a fraudulent charge to a creditcard account. The resident stated that an unknown individual(s) made a fraudulent charge without their approval or authorization. The resident stated that there was a fraudulent charge totaling over $2,500, and that after the fraudulent charge occurred, they took the appropriate reported actions. At this time, it does not appear the resident will suffer any financial loss.
Sunday, May 19, Christina Nelson, 37, of Maplewood was arrested on the strength of multiple traffic warrants pursuant to a motor vehicle stop on Springfield Avenue near Mill Lane. Nelson was subsequently transported to Westfield Police Department Headquarters, where she was processed and released after posting requisite bail for a $2,500 Hanover Township Municipal Court warrant. She also was released on her own recognizance for a $1,000 ATS warrant and a $750 ATS warrant issued by Union Township Municipal Court.
Monday, May 20, a resident of the 500 block of Summit Avenue reported an item was stolen from their residence. The item is a piece of crystal valued at approximately $150. The resident stated that there was an estate sale at her home the previous day and that the item was not sold at the estate sale. The resident reported the item was stolen the day after the estate sale while she was not at the residence.
Wednesday, May 22, a motorist reported that an incident of criminal mischief occurred to their motor vehicle. Westfield Police officers were dispatched to the scene, at Elm and East Broad Streets, and spoke to the motorist and the other party involved, who remained on scene. The motorist was not desirous of further police assistance. The cost of repairs due to damage is unknown at this time.
Wednesday, May 22, while at Westfield Police Headquarters on an unrelated matter, Ernesto Guzman, 48, of Garwood was placed under arrest on the strength of an outstanding warrant from Plainfield Municipal Court. As per Plainfield Municipal Court, he was released on his own recognizance with a future court date.
Wednesday, May 22, Westfield Police responded to the 700 block of South Avenue West on the report of a motor vehicle burglary in progress. Officers were unable to locate the suspect, described as a male wearing all dark-colored clothing. The victim’s vehicle is a dark-colored Nissan sedan that was found to have suffered damage to the rear driver’s-side door-locking mechanism. Entry was not made and no proceeds were taken.
Friday, May 24, an unknown suspect committed theft by taking a package from the front porch of a residence on Stoneleigh Park. The suspect was observed on camera and was described as a lighter-skinned Black or Hispanic male, wearing gray croc shoes, darkblue sweatpants, a dark-blue, hooded sweatshirt with graphics, hood up, and a face mask.
