Communities Weigh Options For Opioid Settlement Funds
AREA — In March of 2022, the state of New Jersey reached a settlement agreement as part of a national lawsuit levied against various manufacturers and distributors for their roles in contributing to the national opioid crisis. The settlement dictates that numerous state, county and local governments will each receive a share of over $1 billion in federal grant funding over the course of the next 16 years to fund treatment programs, educational initiatives and support services for those in active addiction or recovery.
