Geoffrey Christian Kudlick, Photographer, Originally From Westfield
Geoffrey Christian Kudlick, originally from Westfield, N.J., and lately of Stockbridge, Mass., passed on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from natural causes.
Geoffrey was born to Norman H. Kudlick and Catherine (née Oehler) Kudlick of Westfield, N.J. From a young age Geoff seemed a visual arts prodigy, particularly in photography. Geoff turned these early talents into being photo editor of the Westfield High School paper, the Hi’s Eye; a place in “Who’s Who in American High Schools,” a full academic scholarship to Rochester Institute of Technology, and a photo job waiting at the Courier News covering sports and politics, including the New York Giants and the 1980 Democratic Convention.
While he loved the excitement of photojournalism, he found studio work to be more steady and lucrative. He worked for a few major New York commercial and catalogue studios, where he met his wife,
Jeanette, before starting his own New York studio, Geoff Kudlick Photography. Geoff was known and respected in his field. Of all his pursuits, being a dad was most important, and he moved the family from Manhattan to the idyllic and bucolic town of Glen Wild Lake, N.J., for the kids’ childhood. He was an inspiration to them in the arts and a champion of their pursuits and dreams. Many years later they transitioned to Massachusetts, with Geoff living his remaining years in the charming town of Stockbridge. Geoff had a keen artistic vision and was known for his easy-going nature, patience, and quirky sense of humor.
Geoff is survived by his two children, Katrina and Liam; ex-wife, Jeanette Gavroy; siblings, Jon and Cathy; extended family, and a lifetime of treasured friends. A memorial service is being planned in his honor with details to follow.
