Candace Jean Lindlaw-Hudson,
Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother
Candace Jean Lindlaw-Hudson, 77, of Huletts Landing, New York, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Born in Montclair, New Jersey, on July 12, 1947, daughter of William Lindlaw and Jean (Hart) Lindlaw, Candy was the first of four children, her siblings being William, Suzanne and Francis. A philomath who devoted her life to education, she shared her love of the written word for over a decade as an English teacher at Roosevelt Junior High in Westfield, New Jersey, cultivating generations of students to appreciate critical thought, drama, poetry and creativity.
Candy moved to Longwood, Florida, in 1982 and continued serving her community as a volunteer Service Unit Coordinator for the Citrus Council of the Girl Scouts. Later in life, she again served the public through her work in the planning and zoning office of the Seminole County Florida Government. Most importantly, Candy dedicated her heart to being a loving wife, mother, and friend. The light of her good nature and good humor will forever be missed by those who knew her.
Candy is survived by her husband, Christopher; son, William, and his fiancée, Nikki Szuman; daughter, Suzanne, and her husband, Brian Shad; grandson, Joseph; and many members of the extended Lindlaw and Hart families. Her beloved friends have been wonderful companions, and their love and support meant the world to her. Her family knows she is reading a good book or enjoying a scotch sour on the rocks with her dear friends (furry, feathered, and human) and family who beat her to heaven. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her so much. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at noon, at St. Augustine’s Church, 7333 O’Brien Road, Baldwinsville, New York. Interment will follow at a later date at Mountain Grove Memorial Cemetery in Huletts Landing, New York.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, 26 Bleecker Street, New York, N.Y. 10012.
