Garwood Green Team Holds Seed Sowing Workshop

GARWOOD – On Saturday morning, January 4, the Garwood Green Team held its first 2025 workshop. In conjunction with our ongoing Union County (UC) Adopt-A-Park initiative, Mary Roberts from the UC Native Plant Society led volunteers Mary Kittle, Christine Guerriero, Hadas Parag, Ruth Etienne, Mike Mindel, Bill Nierstedt, and the Wiecek and Junod families through the process. Placing soil mix into small pots, and then placing seeds, and covering with sand, the group planted 1,000 seeds to bring home and stratify! Native seeds included Joe Pye Weed, Brown and Black eyed Susans, coneflowers, slender mountain mint, nodding onion, begamont, swamp sunflower, blazing star, goldenrod, and several varieties of milkweed.
