Christopher Owen Joblon, Devoted Father and Partner
Christopher Owen Joblon, a devoted father, partner, and Newburyport, Mass. resident, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the age of 68. Chris’s life revolved around a love for family, friends, and community. He had a passion for history, travel, and the great outdoors. Above all, his love for music and playing his guitar will forever be a core memory for everyone who knew him.
Growing up in Scotch Plains, New Jersey, Chris developed a multitude of lifelong friendships. After spending a few years in Louisiana, where he graduated from Tulane University, Chris explored various parts of the country before settling in New England. His sharp mind and collaborative approach to building solutions was well applied to his careers at Lotus and IBM, but Chris balanced his keen intellect with a gentle, loving energy which he shared with those around him. His genuine concern for others was grounded in his belief that empathy in life was essential to living well.
Chris and his love, Linda Bogdanoff, spent the past fifteen years in Newburyport, where they shared parenting and grandparenting privileges. Chris is survived by his two beloved children — his daughter, Caitlyn Clark, her husband, Stephen, and their children, Madison and Benjamin; and his son, Christopher Joblon II, his wife, Sylvia, and their children, Domi, Alex, and Atalaya. His loss is also shared by his extended family, Skylar and Aaron Henderson and Hannah and Liam White and their children, Emme, Levi, and Marlowe. Chris is survived by his stepmother, Dolores Joblon; his sister, Kathy Wenz, and her husband, Rich Rauer, and children, Clinton and Bill Wenz; his brother, Larry Joblon, and his wife, Diane, and their son, Ryan; and his stepsister, Nina Manzo, her husband, Jay, and their children, Teo and Adlai.
The void left in our world is immense but as a family, we will honor Chris by carrying on his kindness towards all and his fierce love of family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to one of Chris’s favorite charities, The Greater Boston Food Bank, https://my.gbfb.org, or The World Central Kitchen, https://www.wck.org, or any charity of your own choosing.
A Celebration of Life for Chris will be held in Scotch Plains, N.J., on Saturday, March 15. If you would like to attend, please contact Dave Housel at (908) 510-1205 for more details.
