The No. 10 Westfield High School boys ice hockey team blazed past the No. 20 Hillsborough Raiders, 8-0, in the NJSIAA South Public semifinal round on March 3. On March 6, the 20-4 Blue Devil boys pummeled the 15-7-1 Monroe Falcons for the South Public crown.

Jackson Chicola ripped in a pair of goals for the Blue Devils against 1511 Hillsborough and Jack Conrod netted a goal and an assist. Austen Halleran, Brody Esler, Liam Duffy, Andrew Lisnock and Tyler Bergman each scored once. Luke Fitzgerald dished out a pair of assists, while Aidan Alon and Chris Smok each added an assist. Goalkeeper Troy Conover recorded 21 saves and Hillsborough keeper Ryan Gear made 34 saves.
Early in the first period, Chicola struck goals then ripped in his second goal with four minutes remaining. Less than a minute later, Conrod scored on an assist from Fitzgerald. Halleran netted his goal early in the second period then Esler made the score 5-0 with his goal four minutes later. Lisnock scored with less than six minutes left in the period. Conrod and Fitzgerald assisted Bergman on his goal early in the third period then Alon and Smok assisted Duffy on the final goal.
The Blue Devils did get a little more resistance from the Falcons in the championship game but seized total control with five goals in the second period. Lisnock put in two goals and added two assists for the Blue Devils. Aidan Wilson scored twice and dished out two assists. Chicola had two goals and an assist. Esler had a goal and two assists. Blake Wotanowski and Liam Reed each scored once. Halleran had two assists. Conrod, Duffy, Danny McDevitt and Luca McLaren each had an assist.
Halleran and Conrod assisted Wotanowski on the first goal in the game but Falcon Doug Jorgensen assisted Matt DePalma on a power play to knot the score. The Blue Devils hit the jackpot with five goals in the second period, beginning with Lisnock and McLaren assisting Wilson on his first goal. Esler on assists from Halleran and Conrod, scored next then Wilson netted his second goal on assists from Lisnock and Chicola. Duffy and Wilson assisted Chicola on his first goal then Lisnock assisted Chicola to make the score, 6-1.
Wilson assisted Lisnock early in the third period. DePalma assisted by Bryan Schwartz, scored on a power play. Lisnock (Wilson, Esler assist) answered with a power play goal. DePalma scored his third goal on a power play thanks to assists from Jorgesen and Al Scarmato. Reed finalized the scoring on assists from McDevitt and Esler.
The Blue Devils would face the No. 15 Ridgewood Maroon for the Public Championship on March 10.
